The Boeotian confederation, one of the oldest in the Greek world, played an important role in the history of Greece during the Hellenistic period. The analysis of sources, particularly epigraphic sources, sheds new light on entire sections of the political, institutional, economic, and social history of this unique political system. The originality and relevance of the investigation also lie in the decisive contribution of new inscriptions, which are the subject of a scientific edition and in-depth commentary for the first time. Through its rigor and breadth of vision, the work hopes to nourish reflection on Boeotia, but also more broadly on ancient federalism, an original political experiment that remains an important source of inspiration in Europe.
