His artistic work, initially very experimental, has constantly focused on the role and conditions of creation and reception of photographic perception \u003cem data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e.\u003c\/em\u003e From the mid-1990s, he has used and explored digital photography. His series on water and its vital ecological role, begun in 2005, offer a lyrical as well as critical vision of this major environmental issue. Andreas Müller-Pohle developed an original way of shooting: he photographs seas and rivers \"from the inside\", either by immersing himself underwater or by photographing at surface level. He thus shows banks, coasts, environment, their natural state or the alteration that our industrial societies subject them to, through liquid colors.
