Mustafa Salama al-Naggari's. The Garden of Ismail's Praise. CAI 35.","description":"\u003cp\u003e The extended introduction – a microhistory of Khedivial Egypt - explores the life and oeuvre of a forgotten Egyptian intellectual and poet, Mustafa Salama al-Naggari (d. 1870). The book contains the English translation and Arabic transcription of the surviving fragments of his manuscript, The Garden of Ismail's Praise. This was a universal, chronographic history of Egypt, written while the Suez Canal was under construction, in order to praise the governor Khedive Ismail (r. 1863-1879). It advocates a unique solution to computing the period of primordial history, before the Deluge, in the age of steam and print. Al-Naggari's alternative Nahda voice is available for the first time in this edition.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Antinoë","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":39839223808184,"sku":"23503","price":28.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0574\/4043\/6408\/products\/009208840.jpg?v=1623091194","url":"https:\/\/anttopinoe.com\/en-en\/products\/primordial-history-print-capitalism-and-egyptology-in-ninettnth-century-cairo-mustafa-salama-al-naggari-s-the-garden-os-ismail-s-praise-cai-35","provider":"Antinoë","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
